![]() |
Created at the 2001 June in Buffalo Music Festival, Metalofónico performs a diverse array of brass music from the 20th century. The 18 piece ensemble of brass, percussion, and electric guitar presents music from Brazil, Mexico, New Orleans, and Cuba, as well as important works of contemporary composers Iannis Xenakis, Tom Pierson, David Felder, and LaMonte Young. Metalofónico is led by director Jon Nelson, and is comprised of musicians from the Meridian Arts Ensemble, Atlantic Brass Quintet, Los Angeles, Utah and Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestras, and some of New York's finest freelance players. The ensemble's debut CD is due for release in the Fall of 2004.
